5 -Star Luxury My Top 5 Needs

If you have been  thinking of spending some extra money to stay at a luxury five-star hotel. Do it!, you deserve to be spoiled, live in luxury, and have your needs met before you even know that you need anything.

Les Sources de Caudalie, located among the vineyards of Château Smith Haut Lafitte, a Graves great growth, was established in 1999.

Les Sources de Caudalie- France

I have come up with my list of 5 areas that I feel set different hotels apart, and make the experience even that much better. It’s pretty simple for the top hotels to do, and it’s the small attention to details and service that have made the difference to me.

Esperanza Cabo San Lucas Mexico Situated on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, this luxury resort is 19 km from downtown Los Cabos. It features a beachfront infinity pool, spa boutique, and free yoga sessions.

Of course there are certain things that some five-star hotels can offer that others can’t based on location, time of year, and staff.

Here are some of the things that easily enhance the experience that I notice right away, and really set the tone of luxury and attention to detail that you should expect.

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL FIRENZE

FOUR SEASONS HOTEL FIRENZE Bathroom

Bathroom

Let’s start with the bathroom. Do they have two sinks? Also they should have that simple little lighted make-up mirror a good sign if they do. Also a scale is something I have come to expect, 2 warm cozy robes, slippers (sometimes found in the closet), Q-tips, cotton pads, lip balm, body wash, nail care items, sewing kit, bottled water, loads of extra cozy towels, soaps, body wash shampoos, conditioner, body cream, real décor silver, glass items in the bathroom, and a double shower head. A must is a real hairdryer, extra combs and now they even have small airline size plastic bags that you can take home your unused items.

Le Meurice has been ranked among the most elegant hotels in the world

Le Meurice Paris

Closet

In the closet I like to find extra hangers wood ones that actual come off the racks, they should also have many soft cloth hangers, extra pillows, extra warm cozy blankets,  and yes I like to find a iron, and extra luggage rack. How great is it to have a safe that’s actually large enough for my laptop and a safe that has plugs in it – excellent!

The Minibar and refrigerator

It’s great to find fresh and healthy items these days in your room, so hotels will have some cheese and fruit waiting for you. In the minibar some healthy items are a big plus and a nice selection of sweet and salty items. Coffee makers stocked with the right condiments and extra tea, coffee.

Concierge & Staff

Above all the hotel staff can make or break your experience. A concierge who knows how to communicate, is helpful, and offers great suggestions is worth their weight in gold. Anyone who comes into your room, from housekeeping in the day, to the room turndown service at night. Bellhops, maintenance personal, room service servers, those who are warm and friendly bring comfort and value to your stay.

Ooh La La – Enjoy Bastille Day all Month

Ooh la la did you miss Bastille Day?

I’m a horrible mom – not because I missed Bastille Day, it’s because I made my youngest child stick in his French classes for 8 years. Well, I needed to insure that if he ever had an opportunity to go study abroad, that the deck would be stacked in his favor and that he might wind up in France.

Have you been to France? If you know me, you know I love love love Paris, and almost anything French. This past semester my son did get to study in France, (because he did speak French) he studied in Paris and lived in the Bastille District. Since today is Bastille Day – we can all celebrate a bit…

"The July Column (Colonne de Juillet) which commemorates the events of the July Revolution (1830) stands at the center of the square - Bastille prison stood until the 'Storming of the Bastille' and its subsequent physical destruction between 14 July 1789 and 14 July 1790 during the French Revolution"

“The July Column (Colonne de Juillet) which commemorates the events of the July Revolution (1830) stands at the center of the square – Bastille prison stood until the ‘Storming of the Bastille’ and its subsequent physical destruction between 14 July 1789 and 14 July 1790 during the French Revolution”

Why celebrate Bastille Day? The colors are easy, red, white, and blue. July 14th is often thought of as France’s Independence Day. I want to encourage you to at least if even just for today, do something, try something French inspired. Maybe grab a croissant, a macaroon, a sip of champagne for lunch, wear red, white, and blue, say a French word or even just think of the Eiffel Tower there you did it! It’s great to feel connected.

Want to feel even more connected, how about a taste of some delectable French fare? Near Chicago? Lucky you!. Take a step inside the Pierrot Gourmet at The Peninsula Chicago. The French inspired decor warmed the atmosphere and simple elegant Red, White, and Blue touches set the mood. For me, it did bring my mind and senses back to my most resent visit to Paris. In the front is a display case deliciously looking pastry classics.

I spotted Macaroons, Tri Color Éclairs and other tasty looking deliclies.

Go try “All Things French” When I heard that The Peninsula Chicago was hosting a celebration to celebrate the hotel opening in Paris this year I was excited to check it out, my blogging pal @mjtam invited me to join her. Below are some of the items you can have this month. It’s so worth it and Ooh La La..enjoy

Checking out the very cool – Vertigo Sky Lounge

A very cool view of Chicago

Come get a stunning view of Chicago, sit near the warm fireplace, experience excellent bartenders, hear spot on music, meet, mix and mingle with 100 very “cool” people you don’t know yet, all this while standing outside in this frozen winter weather. This weekend even though the temp was 18 degrees outside @MJtam from #ChicagonisatLive and I  were invited to check out the Vertigo Sky Lounge – Ice Bar, an indoor and outdoor bar at the Dana Hotel.

I knew it would be freezing in the Chicago Winter sense; I was pleased to see how sizzling this experience was, with a cocktail party feel, and a warm mix of people it was the place to be. At my Boomfluent age I love when I uncover a “hot” spot to hang with my coolest friend’s.

Even a boomer can be cool

When you enter and if your lucky you might be able to grab off the rack one of warm comfy fleece blankets to wrap around yourself and keep you cozy while enjoy the drinks from the Ice Bar.

The warmth of the fire pit was enough to keep us toasty as we sipped some of the balmy warming drinks. I loved the Hotti Toddy, and adult hot chocolate. I enjoyed the vibe and seeing the city view from this venue is not to be missed.

This ice bar features a frozen bar, fireplace, sofa and sculptures all carved into great designs.

The walls and seating are made of ice. Beautiful and shinning is the ice bar with a frozen Ice “Luge Drinking” station where they pour the shot of choice through the ice sculpture into your mouth. That will warm you up.

Warm and toasty and just in time for winter, my drink of the night was the Hottie Toddy is a classic drink that will warm you up.photo-31

Do you see what I see NYC

Next time you visit the Big Apple – New York City – as you hurry off to see the sights, a show, grab a meal, why not take a look at some of the things around you. This city is filled with wonderful opportunities to do just that. I also just had so much fun asking people on the street to snap a few of these photos. Have some fun snap, share and post your photos – and keep looking around.

NYC Back & White Cookie Style – love it too

NYC is known for black and white cookies – so I decided to grab a cookie and scout around for some fashion inspired by these little sweets. Also in my search I was not allowed to find anything that would cost more than a few cookies. Look, I found these little dresses all under $25.00. Cute, and will not break the bank, can hide it if you had  a few cookies, and easy to wash and wear.
